8/2/08  - William Austin "Scooter Bill" Bishop, 54, Homosassa, died Sunday, August 2, 2008, at Hospice of Citrus County Hospice House in Lecanto.

A native of Huntington Park, California, he was born June 16, 1954, to the late William and Olive (Simon) Bishop and came to this area in 1995 from Land O' Lakes, FL. Bill served our country in the United States Army. He was employed by Tampa Electric Company for over ten years as a tug boat engineer on ocean going barges, having traveled to many third world countries during the course of his employment. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and member of Brothers of the Third Wheel, a nonprofit organization for three wheel motorcyclists. He was known by his family as a tinkerer and fixer-upper kind of guy.

His survivors include his wife of five years, Debora, Homosassa; three stepsons: Darrell (Christy) Crooks, Eatonton, GA, Charles (Barbara) Crooks, Muncy, PA, John Crooks, Homosassa, four brothers, John Bishop, Racine, WI, Jim (Terri) Bishop, Racine, WI, Geno (Tammy) Bishop, PA, Paul (Tara) Bishop, New Franken, WI, four sisters, Barb (Jeff) Schuessler, New Franken, WI, Carol Bishop, Green Bay, WI, Mary (Dan) O'Brien, Racine, WI, Rosie (Patrick) Rottier, Green Bay, WI; and six step-grandchildren.
